BEDROOM, 2019
For MYSEUM OF TORONTO
We were commissioned to build an immersive artwork depicting memories of bedrooms in a war-torn city, for Myseum’s Intersection Festival. The “corridor of bedrooms” conceptualizes a war zone in domestic spaces. With perfect circle cut outs for mortar shells and lines of subtle perforation for bullet holes on the floral walls, these bedrooms speak to anyone who has lived through war or has witnessed it through the news. We built benches and placed them strategically; we then camouflaged them in wallpaper. Sitting encouraged reflection on the visual multiplicity of space and form. After a while, once starts to notice the subtle violent details, within the safety of the floral environment.
